The Black Death

In this video we had just finished watching there was this disease, the 3 types were called bubonics, pneumonia, and septicaemic... They are a very big disease and go worse throughout each day...

It can be really contagious and like in a weeks time people can die from this disease as i have seen in the video i watched of the symptoms

In this video we had just finished watching there was this disease, the 3 types were called bubonics, pneumonia, and septicaemic... They are a very big disease and go worse throughout each day...

It can be really contagious and like in a weeks time people can die from this disease as i have seen in the video i watched of the symptoms

Bubonic plague: Patients develop sudden onset of fever, headache, chills, and weakness and one or more swollen, tender and painful lymph nodes (called buboes). This form usually results from the bite of an infected flea. The bacteria multiply in the lymph node closest to where the bacteria entered the human body. If the patient is not treated with the appropriate antibiotics, the bacteria can spread to other parts of the body.

Septicemic plague: Patients develop fever, chills, extreme weakness, abdominal pain, shock, and possibly bleeding into the skin and other organs. Skin and other tissues may turn black and die, especially on fingers, toes, and the nose. Septicemic plague can occur as the first symptom of plague, or may develop from untreated bubonic plague. This form results from bites of infected fleas or from handling an infected animal.

Pneumonic plague: Patients develop fever, headache, weakness, and a rapidly developing pneumonia with shortness of breath, chest pain, cough, and sometimes bloody or watery mucus. Pneumonic plague may develop from inhaling infectious droplets or may develop from untreated bubonic or septicemic plague after the bacteria spread to the lungs. The pneumonia may cause respiratory failure and shock. Pneumonic plague is the most serious form of the disease and is the only form of plague that can be spread from person to person (by infectious droplets).

Separating a mixture using evaporation

Aim: Trying to separate the liquid and separate liquid from the solid

Hypothesis: I think they will evaporate slowly or fast because there is a solid in with the liquid (IDK)

Equipment: Copper sulphate solution, 250mL Beaker, heat proof mat,

evaporating basin, element.

Method:

  1. Set up element

  2. Add 100mL of hot water to the beaker and place on the element.

  3. Add copper sulphate to the evaporating basin until it is quarter full.

  4. Carefully, place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker.

  5. Turn on the element to 3

  6. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated n crystals

  7. of solute are forming.

  8. Turn off the element- be careful not to touch, as it will be hot for a long time.

Observations: i saw the water boiling and the blue liquid was starting to

evaporate n turned into a gas.

Conclusion: i dont know

Discussion: It evaporated when it was getting heated up by the boiling

water that was underneath

Evaluation: it was a ok experiment with my group

Weekend

Today i am going to be talking about my weekend and the fun things i had done in the weekend hope you enjoy...

In the weekend I stayed at my friends from Friday, and on Sunday💥 Tamara and I and also her dad had gone to timezone, Margaret Mahy park and also we went to mini golf just across the road from the park... But that was just for fun, some of the games like the parts of mini golf was a bit hard to do, but it was alot of fun... After we had been at Margaret Mahy Park, and mini golf we went to this swing area which was also across the road and around the corner.  I also took a couple photos when i had gone to timezone, but once was quite blurry and hard to see, But I didn't take to many photos because I
was trying to have fun and not spend that day on my phone...

Here is a photo i took of me doing the bowling game at timezone, it was fun got strikes like about 7 times in a row and then it went to the pro round with about 100 white things to knock down and the most i knocked down was about 94 on my second shot...

The other games i played was basketball, i had about 5 games of that and the shop person gave me a free game to play, we got to spend about 70 bucks at timezone, it was major fun there with my friend and her dad... I was real grateful to be able to have that opportunity to go to timezone...

Here's a photo of the Margaret Mahy Park i had went to with my mate, i mostly went on one of the swings but i got sore things on it, because i think its made for kids a little bit younger then me...

So then once we finished playing around at the big park we then walked across the road to here, Mini Golf and there were 8 levels to play and some got harder and some were sort of easy to do... a couple of them i got 2 hits and then it went in the hole and the most one took about 5 hits till i got it in...

Here's a photo of what it looked like
I hope you enjoyed listening to what i had to say about my weekend, hope yous all have a wonderful day. Keep safe out there and be positive... Kakite

Dilution Experiment

What is Dilution:

Making something less concentrated

there will be less particles in the liquid

Hypothesis: which test tube is the most dilute?

last one

which test tube will be the lest dilute?

What did I do:

  • first we added 10 mils to the first test tube then we added 5 mils to the other 5 test tubes and after that there was a chemical that got added which had made it turn into a sorta dark bright purple colour.
Was my hypothesis correct - it sort of was right...
How did I know: when i was giving it ago and to see what the result would be when
i found out what happened but comparing it with what i thought would happen which one
would be diluted...

Filtration Experiment

Aim: Separate a mixture we have made using filtration...

Hypothesis: I think that they may separate and change colour.

When we mixed it, the colour turned into a darker blue, after that we then filtered it and one the blue one changed into a solid and the other then started falling down to a liquid... when we were filtering it, the blue one didn't go down but the other clear liquid did...

CARR Values Presentation

Here is my presentation of the CARR Values for the year 6s of hornby primary to read so they understand and know what our values are and also so they know what they mean... Hope they learn something new from this (Peace)...

So for this first photo, i was currently walking across this beam trying to keep my balance, and also in the photo my plan was to use my foot and sorta dip/swoop down the side and bring my foot back up on the beam...

for this second photo i had to keep my balance on the polls and try to walk across the bars. But for me it was a bit hard.. this was my second activity for today i had completed but i still tried my best to do as much as i could...
In this photo i was trying to balance and sorta swing my legs both ways back and forwards... It was sorta hard for me because my hands and arms were starting to hurt...

Similes English - Work

 Simile -

What are similes?

A simile is a direct comparison between two ideas using words LIKE or AS for example “She danced as delicately as a butterfly.” and “The baby was like a pig when it ate. “ are similes because when they compare ideas they use the words like and as which stops them from being a metaphor which is comparing two ideas without using like or as.

What is an example of adverts that use similes -

One company that uses similes in their advertising is “Chevrolet” which has the slogan as “Like a rock”

Describe how the simile is used in the ad?

The brand Chevrolet uses the simile “like a rock” to Promote their car as trustworthy, reliable, strong, etc using only a 3-word sentence which is short and snappy and very memorable.

Why do advertisers use similes in advertising?

Advertisers use similes in ads to promote their product as something positive without having to write out the words, instead simply referring it to another object for example chevrolet doesn’t use the words reliable and strong in their slogan but are implying that it is by using the simile “like a rock”

Mini Apple Sauce Muffins

Last week in cooking we had made mini apple sauce muffins

As a group we all made around 20-30 muffins. there were all kinds of stuff in it but mostly apple. They didn't taste that nice but everyone except for one group had a change to one of the ingredients that we had to make them...

here's a photo of a similar pic to what they looked like once they were completed...

Next time we maybe should add more of a couple things or maybe try leaving them in longer or maybe have less of some ingredients but still use a certain amount...

Market Day - Oozy Oobleck

Yesterday in B - E My Group made Oobleck, at the start we had only sold 1 but like after a hour, and a half it started to sell out when the primary school kids started coming to our school... Our Oobleck colour was blue but it was spost to be green but we decided we would make it a different colour... Before market day came we all had to name our groups sort out what we was doing... and also last thing we had to make our product for the day... Here is a couple photos of the amount of kids that had made stuff for this amazing day... For our market we were selling oobleck for 2 dollars but since they weren't selling out we started selling them for 1 dollar or 2 for the price of one just to get money in for our market... Our group dont really know how much we had made to be honest. People in our group were Tennessee, Jessica, Lily and lucky last which was me the CEO...

Yesterday was a super hot day, and after most or everyone had sold out everybody started to feel like they either couldn't be bothered doing anything or some of them wanted to go home... The day was super fall on and a lot of people wanted to get wet because of the heat that occurred yesterday...

Can experiment:

Aim: To see what happens when you put the heated can in cold water.

Hypothesis: I thought that the can would just go cold... But when we tried the experiment the can scrunched up together...

When we boiled the water it turned from a liquid to a gas which means it Evaporated... The gas particles were contracting together with the can which made it scrunch up.

Particle theory

Today in science we have been learning about particles.......

Particles move rapidly in all directions but collide with each other more frequently than in gases due to shorter distances between particles. The particles are held together too strongly to allow movement from place to place but the particles do vibrate about their position in the structure.

Particle Theory:
  • All matter is made up of particles
  • All particles in a pure substance are the same
  • There is space between all particles
  • Particles are always moving
  • There are attractive forces between particles
  • Temperature affects the speed at which particles move
Today in our experiment we used cold and warm water and we put this type of liquid in both of them to see what would happen in each one of them... it had spread out quicker from in the warm water.

Carbohydrates

 Simple carbohydrates -

  • Fruits, milk, Sugars/Candy, syrups, soft drinks

Complex carbohydrates -

  • Complex carbohydrates are made up of sugar molecules that are strung together in long, complex chains. Complex carbohydrates are found in foods such as peas, beans, whole grains, and vegetables. Both simple and complex carbohydrates are turned to glucose (blood sugar) in the body and are used as energy.

Dietary Fibre -

  • Dietary fibre helps keep the gut healthy and is important in helping to reduce the risk of diseases such as diabetes, coronary heart disease and bowel cancer2. Fibre reaches the large bowel undigested where it is fermented by bacteria.

  • Good sources include barley, oatmeal, beans, nuts, and fruits such as apples, berries, citrus fruits, and pears. Many foods contain both soluble and insoluble fiber. In general, the more natural and unprocessed the food, the higher it is in fibre.

Photo Montage

Today in art I filled in this matrix table thing describing about my work. this didn't take to long to complete this piece of work and i got help from the teachers to complete it cause i didn't get what to do but then he helped me write some ideas down thanks Mr Collins

Subject matter

Form

Space- Composition

Content- Meaning

Your Photomontage

What is your main subject matter?

Ahead or portrait? An animal? A vehicle? What can we identify?

  • My subject matter is a head with headphones.

Scale- between your subject matter, consistent or varied? Do you enlarge your  photo fragments for emphasis?

Ive enlarged the eyes and headphones relative to the head and the banana is smaller.

Is your photo montage flat or does it have space (landscape or city scape)?

What are your focal points?

My focal point is the features of the face.

What do you want the viewer’s first reaction to be? Amusement? Awe? Shock? Puzzled?

How do you group your subject matter? Are they separate or do they touch one another?

I have one head and i have added headphones, eyes and a banana.

Do you work in  black and white or colour? Does your colour create a mood or structure the collage?

Worked mostly in black and white, and except for the eyes and banana has some colour.

Does your photo montage have leading lines? Do you repeat parts?

No

How does combining photo fragments together change the meaning of your subject matter?

The fragments express the head being squashed.

What photo fragments do you add to the main subject? How does this change it?

Do you use similar colour fragments to blend your photo fragments together?

Is the scale of one part larger and more important than the others?

Most important parts are the large eyes and oversized headphones.

Does it express any values or ideas?

It might express a idea of listening to music.

What if anything, is happening in your photo montage?

The head could be responding to the music.

Do you mix together photos and other types of art? A realistic fragment and a cartoon?

The eyes aren't realistic.

Do you use overlap, placement, tone/colour, or perspective to create a space?

No

Are there any other unsuspected meanings that you can see?

Headphones being to tight which makes the face squashed and the eyes popped out and faced different ways.

Activity Book - Sustainability

Here is my activity book full of heaps of things to do like for E.G Crosswords word finds and snakes and ladders and also a flashcards activity is well. I hope you would like to try them out if you can get onto it or maybe try and screenshot then print or try and figure something else out or just do it with your fingers or something i dont really know. For the word find you have some words you have to look for where all of the letter are/have been put and there are certain words for endangered animals... and a couple or few photos of the animal i have used to describe about it...

For the next one which is called a crossword you have some hints or definitions on one side and then you have to figure out where the right words go for the correct spots/little squares go. Some of them go straight down and some of them go straight up... For you to be able to complete it you have to of done the right words for the right places and also maybe the correct spelling if need help maybe try and search it up...

For the next one I have chosen flash cards... For one half there is words and the other half is for the definitions for each word and you have to match/link the ones up that goes together or match ... like say for example( 2 Animals ) the definition would be the amount of animals there is for the one type or 2 types...

And finally the last one which is a online snakes and ladders game you have to try find your way to the end... taking turns with as many players as you want maximum is 6 players or maybe 8 if you want to be challenge with heaps of people... Some of them might move you back for some sort of reasons i have wrote on a few of them. The ladders are for you to move up and the snakes are for you to go down them if you go on them and if you go down it takes longer to play the game and also a longer challenge to see who can win altogether.

It links to sustainability because some of it describes about endangered animals or has some types of information about it...

Here's my work i completed during the periods i had to work on it...

I sort of liked sustainability because some of the projects we had to do are somewhat fun and I enjoy making the activity book for others to learn about endangered animals or species or any types of kinds of animals there are that are Only Endangered...

Essay/Para - Endangered Amur Leopards

Here is my essay/para about Endangered Amur Leopards, I hope you like what i had completed and its my work put into a para but from google slides information i had done about the animal...

Amur Leopards are an endangered animal because they are threatened by poaching prey of species, and they have a habitat loss, also a couple other things are that the population is at risk from breeding depression. The Amur Leopard is the top predator in its own ecosystem. No other animals hunt for the Amur Leopards. Although it does compete for space and prey with the Amur Tiger.

This is how old the Amur leopards are, they can live upto about 10-15 years of age. And around the world there’s about 84 of these types of animals left in the wild, and about 180 in captivity. Amur leopards are the world’s most endangered big cats, which is what the zoo has said.

For the Amur leopards, their body they have rough tongues, and also for their tails they are long and bushy and it helps them in the winter, it helps them not to freeze. They also sort of have big paws so it can help them walk through the snow when it’s a really freezing and snowy day.

That’s all I had to write about the Amur Leopards,
