CULTURE

Art

Term 1 Art, this term in art i've been working on this painting and vocal points, the first thing i see in my painting would be the spider which is in the middle of the painting. Before we did the painting we had to do a few thumbnail sketches,  one for what our painting will look like, another for if we are going to add something to it to make it look more detailed.

Here's my finished Painting, for the greenstone and the Maori carving, on one side is green so it can be similar colour to the greenstone and the other side is like a orangy colour so it can be noticeable for the carving...

After finishing my painting we then blue tacked them to the wall for display...

Vietnam - Jimmy Cliff

The message for this song is: Jimmy Cliff wanted to get across with his song "Vietnam" was that the Vietnam war had to stop because the families were losing all their men, but Jimmy Cliff also wrote this song as a support to the soldiers fighting at war.

Hey, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Yesterday I got a letter from my friend
Fighting in Vietnam
And this is what he had to say
'Tell all my friends that I'll be coming home soon
My time it'll be up some time in June
Don't forget, he said to tell my sweet Mary
Her golden lips as sweet as cherries
And it came from
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
It was just the next day his mother got a telegram
It was addressed from Vietnam
Now mistress Brown, she lives in the USA
And this is what she wrote and said
Don't be alarmed, she told me the telegram said
But mistress Brown your son is dead
And it came from
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Somebody please stop that war now
It was just the next day his mother got a telegram
It was addressed from Vietnam
Now mistress Brown, she lives in the USA
And this is what she wrote and said
Don't be alarmed, she told me the telegram said
Oh, but mistress Brown your son is dead
And it came from
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Somebody please stop it
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
What I'm saying now somebody stop that war

The song Vietnam was a song written by the singer Jimmy Cliff. The song is about one of the soldiers that are serving in the Vietnam war and writes a letter to his friends, and family about him about to return home.  But, instead of receiving his letter, his mother receives a telegram notifying him about his death. According to Jimmy Cliff, the song was about an artist he knew who was drafted to fight in Vietnam.

St Patricks Day

 WHAT IS ST PATRICK'S DAY

Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick… The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.

Leprechauns are actually one reason you're supposed to wear green on St. Patrick's Day or risk getting pinched! The tradition is tied to folklore that says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, which like to pinch anyone they can see.

Dork Diary

She lost her diary and now she can’t find it anywhere she has looked for it but it just can’t be seen anywhere she gets people to help find it, but the problem is that it has fallen out of her front pocket of her bag, so she is thinking someone else has picked it up and has got it somewhere else so that she can’t find it and she doesn’t know who has picked it up. By the sounds of it, she thinks she knows who has her book she has searched for it far and low she thinks Mackenzie has it for when she went into the toilet to cry she bumped into her and she said that she will search for her diary far and low. Because Mackenzie knew that her diary was missing, But here this is what Mackenzie said ‘’I’M GOING TO SEARCH THIS ENTIRE SCHOOL UNTIL I FIND YOUR DIARY. AND WHEN I DO YOU WILL BE SORRY.’’ The 3 girls have gone into the boy’s locker room while they are training for football and they went searching for a particular bag and they found it inside the boy’s locker room so they went through it to see if that bag has her diary in it but when one of the girls put her hand in the bag they thought it was in there but it was another book. Finally, I have finished the book and they finally found her diary and guess who had it her little sister took it to school for show and tell and her little sister said that all the kids loved the funny pictures in her diary.
